| 11/25/2009 | Jay Cutler, QB (Chi) | Cutler discussed his poor play Wednesday. He said he knew he would be the center of attention for a team that has long been searching for a franchise quarterback. "I haven't played up to my expectations. I think that's the most important part. I can play better. I know that," Cutler said. "It's a process, though. I think everyone in the offense knows what we're trying to get done." Analysis: Cutler is correct in saying he can play better. The Bears have lost five of six and Cutler leads the NFL with 18 interceptions. Fantasy owners should stay away from starting Cutler this week at Minnesota and possibly the rest of the season. |
| 11/25/2009 | Ahmad Bradshaw, RB (NYG) | Bradshaw won't play at Denver on Thursday because of a sprained left ankle. Analysis: Bradshaw was hurt during the Giants' 34-31 overtime win over Atlanta on Sunday. He's second on the team with 549 yards rushing. |
| 11/25/2009 | Kerry Rhodes, S (NYJ) | Rhodes has been demoted by coach Rex Ryan in favor of Eric Smith. Analysis: Rhodes has failed to be the playmaking presence Ryan expected when he compared him to Baltimore's Ed Reed in the offseason. Instead, Rhodes has struggled with no interceptions, sacks, forced fumbles or fumble recoveries. |
| 11/25/2009 | Byron Leftwich, QB (TB) | Leftwich's season is over after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put the backup quarterback on injured reserve with a sore right elbow. Analysis: Leftwich opened the season as the starting quarterback, but was replaced by Josh Johnson after three games. Rookie Josh Freeman has since become the starter, and Leftwich had been listed as third on the depth chart. |
| 11/25/2009 | Fabian Washington, CB (Bal) | Washington is expected to miss the remainder of the season after hurting his knee during Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Analysis: On his Twitter account, Washington wrote: "Thanx for all of your support. Yes I do have a torn ACL. But I'll get through this. Go Ravens." "It looks like he has an ACL tear. As of right now, we're proceeding as if he's done for the season," coach John Harbaugh said Monday. |
| 11/25/2009 | Eric Wood, G (Buf) | Wood continues to recuperate in a Jacksonville hospital three days after breaking two bones in his left leg. Analysis: A person familiar with the injury tells The Associated Press that Wood isn't expected to return to Buffalo until Thursday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team has not updated the player's status since Monday. Wood had surgery to repair the compound fracture hours after he was hurt in an 18-15 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. The injury was so gruesome that CBS elected against showing more than one replay. |
| 11/25/2009 | Jon Runyan, T (SD) | Runyan says he'll retire at the end of the season and launch a campaign for Congress in New Jersey's 3rd District. Analysis: The 35-year-old offensive lineman was signed Tuesday to play the remainder of the season with the San Diego Chargers. Runyan said in a statement that he had told Republican officials in Burlington County that he would retire after the season and seek to challenge Democratic Rep. John Adler in 2010. |
| 11/24/2009 | Calvin Johnson, WR (Det) | The Detroit Lions practiced Tuesday without quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson. The injured players watched the workouts. Analysis: Johnson has hand and knee injuries. Both Johnson and Stafford don't have much time to get healthy for the next game. Detroit hosts the Green Bay Packers in its annual Thanksgiving game. |
| 11/24/2009 | Brandon Jacobs, RB (NYG) | Jacobs says his right leg feels "really good" after injuring it against Atlanta, and he could've returned to the game Sunday. Analysis: Jacobs missed the fourth quarter and overtime in the Giants' 34-31 win after he was tackled by Thomas DeCoud and Stephen Nicholas on a 5-yard run late in the third quarter. Jacobs says it "wasn't anything bad," and participated in full practice on Monday and was expected to again on Tuesday. He walked through the locker room without being visibly hindered and should be ready to go against Denver on Thursday night. |

| 11/24/2009 | Josh Bell, CB (GB) | The Green Bay Packers have signed former Denver Broncos cornerback Josh Bell. Analysis: The Packers are lacking depth at cornerback after Al Harris' season-ending knee injury. Bell played in nine games, including five starts, for the Broncos last season. A 5-foot-11, 177-pound second-year player, Bell signed with San Diego as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor and spent the 2008 preseason with the Chargers. He later joined the Broncos' practice squad and was signed to the active roster. Denver cut him before the start of this season. |
| 11/24/2009 | Landon Johnson, LB (Car) | The Panthers placed Landon Johnson on injured reserve Tuesday and signed linebacker Jordan Senn. Johnson hurt his medial collateral ligament in Thursday's loss to Miami in his second start at weakside linebacker after Thomas Davis was lost for the season. Analysis: Johnson's injury leaves James Anderson as the likely starter Sunday at the New York Jets. Johnson had 12 tackles in the past two games. |
| 11/24/2009 | Jason Witten, TE (Dal) | Witten was on the field for the start of practice Wednesday, a potentially good sign for his chances of playing against Oakland on Thursday. Analysis: Coach Wade Phillips said before the workout that Witten remains a game-time decision because of his sprained left foot. |
| 11/24/2009 | Chris Johnson, RB (Ten) | Johnson ran for 151 yards in Tennessee's 20-17 win over Houston on Monday night. Analysis: Johnson is averaging 6,2 yards per carry, and has already set a career high with 1,242 yards on the season. He's rushed for 774 yards and six TDs in his last five games. |
| 11/24/2009 | Matt Schaub, QB (Hou) | Schaub passed for 305 yards and two touchdowns in Houston's 20-17 loss to Tennessee on Monday night. Analysis: Schaub didn't throw an interception after being picked off four times in his previous two games. |
| 11/24/2009 | Vince Young, QB (Ten) | Young remained undefeated as a starter this season, with Tennessee beating Houston 20-17 on Monday night. Analysis: Young is 2-0 as a starter in his hometown of Houston after running for the winning touchdown in overtime in his last start there, as a rookie in 2006. He said he believes the team is simply having more fun since he took over and that nothing drastic has changed with him at the helm. "It's not about me, it's not about Vince Young," said Young, who is 4-0 this season after taking over for Kerry Collins. |
| 11/24/2009 | Charlie Batch, QB (Pit) | Batch injured his left wrist after replacing Ben Roethlisberger during an overtime loss in Kansas City and could miss the rest of the regular season. Analysis: Batch was hurt despite playing only four plays in the Steelers' 27-24 loss -- his first game action since 2007. He is expected to undergo surgery later this week to repair the wrist and miss approximately six weeks. Batch sat out last season with a broken collarbone. |
| 11/24/2009 | Winston Justice, T (Phi) | Justice has signed a four-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. The team announced the deal on Tuesday. Justice could have become an unrestricted free agent after this season. Analysis: A second-round pick in 2006, Justice has started every game this season after starting only one in his first three years in the NFL. He replaced Shawn Andrews, who didn't take a snap and was placed on injured reserve with a season-ending back injury. |
| 11/23/2009 | Marshawn Lynch, RB (Buf) | Lynch left Sunday's game at Jacksonville with a shoulder injury. Analysis: Lynch was taken to the locker room on a cart in the second quarter. He returned to the field after halftime wearing street clothes. |
| 11/23/2009 | Terrell Owens, WR (Buf) | Owens caught nine passes for 197 yards, including a team-record 98-yarder for a score Sunday in an 18-15 loss at Jacksonville. It was his best outing with the Bills, who have lost three straight and six of eight. Analysis: The loss didn't seem to bother Owems, who exchanged jerseys with the Jaguars' Mike Sims-Walker afterward. "Might show I'm washed up," Owens joked. "I take it as a compliment that I can still play this game." |
